Laura Dunwoody is an Irish photographer, educator and social activist.
| Laura is a socially engaged documentary photographer and community artist whose practice is centered on community cohesion through collaborative arts. Working through a participatory approach, she researches the value of non-formal education in community spaces and the wider impact it has on the development of young people in society. Laura is interested in how forms of education are shaped by the environments in which it takes place. Her photography is driven by questions of representation in marginalised social groups that were harmed by photography and denied access to the medium. She is committed to making photography more accessible by opening up space for more considered ways of seeing. Laura holds a BA in Photography from Royal Academy of Art (KABK) and is currently studying MA Art Education at Piet Zwart Institute (PZI). Laura’s practice is supported by an artists' residency at Photo Museum Ireland and she won the Judges' Selection Award at the Taylor Wessing Irish Photo Prize in 2026. |
